8th March 1996 – 15th June 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Clem.
He was a very important member of our family and will be sadly missed by everyone.
We rescued him when he was 8 months old. He had begun his training as a hawking dog and was always willing and biddable.
He had been put off retrieving when we got him and David gently taught him that retrieving was not naughty, but great fun and he was chasing after retrieves a week before he died.
In his later years he loved to potter along behind the pack and wait for them to line up on point. He then found a new lease of life and would charge of to flush the bird before the others realised what he was doing!
His hearing began to go a couple of years ago but he stayed fit right up until a few months ago, when he began to get a bit wobbly on his back legs. However, he always went out on his daily walk with pleasure and never refused a meal in his life!
He was a very striking dog and would have done well in the show ring but we were not given his pedigree by the rescue home and he became a much loved family pet.
He loved everyone, especially children and it has been a hard job telling all my piano students that he will not be there to greet them when they come into the house.
He was the January Dog on this year’s GSP rescue calendar and that is how we will always remember him – out in the big outdoors, enjoying life. |
